FAQ
Why is your name CH-1060?
I personally prefer not to use my 'human name' on the internet. 'CH-1060' does not stand for anything, nor does it have any hidden meaning. My initials are not 'CH'. It's not a name that I chose... I prefer to think that it chose me. I saw it spraypainted on a road while construction was happening. I imagine it had some purpose for the people maintaining the road, but whatever it was I don't know, nor do I care. The meaning of CH-1060 is that it is my name. It was gone a few days later.
Who is the orange worm guy?
That's The Eel Prince! He serves as the mascot for CH-1060. I sometimes depict myself as him, but he may be more accurately thought of as an aspect of my masculinity rather than wholly analagous to me. He is less of a 'postfursona' as he is a 'postfur OC' (original character).
More information about The Eel Prince can be found throughout the art section.
What's with the Comic Sans?
No relation to the character Sans from Undertale / Deltarune. Or at least, not directly, as much as I like him. It's another element that's inherited from my growing up using Microsoft™ products. Most of my early MSPaint artworks feature Comic Sans, well before (but also after) 2015.
What's with the hideous fish fossil background?
The attribution at the bottom of each page mentions this, but the fish fossil background is sourced from Microsoft™ Powerpoint. Before I knew anything about HTML or CSS, I knew I wanted to use this hideous texture for my website. When using PowerPoint in school, I was always intrigued by it... Like, why? Who at Microsoft™ thought this was a good idea? And why do I love it? I suppose for exactly that reason. It's such a baffling choice, and considering how intertwined my art is with Microsoft™ products, extinct fish and amateurish/'lowbrow' art... I can't think of a better background to use.
What are postfurry and postfandom?
Postfurry is an art movement which emerged out of the furry subculture. It's broad, but I'd personally define it as a direct continuation of furry tropes into a fine-art context. It's often willing to break the mold in terms of what counts as a 'furry character' or 'fursona'. It may be self-referential to the furry subculture, or it can be just adjacent to it. It's not sarcastic; it appreciates the fascinating history and philosophy of the furry subculture.
Postfandom is an umbrella term that I made up, as far as I'm aware. It would include postfurry as well as other fine art which directly continues the tropes of fandom and OC art culture. It may use popular characters or even reinvent them — a great example of this is Paul Peng's descendants of Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls. (Please note: Paul Peng's website features unspoilered artistic nudity.)
Do you have (insert social media)?
Chances are, no. I don't plan on making any, either. The only social media you can find me on is BlueSky (@ch-1060.bsky.social) — any other account using the name CH-1060 is either abandoned or not me.
Can I commission you or make an art request? Are you participating in ArtFight this year?
Please see the art page for this information.
Can I add your button to my site? Can we be friends/moots?
Yes, you can use my 88x31 button, but please don't hotlink it!
If you want to be friends or moots, don't be afraid to say hi! My BlueSky DMs are always open, too.
