Untitled (Head Steam) - April 2026
This piece is drawn entire using the MSPaint Oil Paint tool and default palette. Togore's expression falls ambiguously between pain and ecstasy as steam rushes from his head.
It is worth noting that since the incident discussed in rhombus magic, I had not self-harmed. This drawing is in a way a drawing of itself — the act of drawing catharsis was, in itself, cathartic.
rhombus magic - March 2026
Content warning: self-harm
The open self-harm cuts are stylised as rhombuses, in much the same way that one may think of their phone as a 'depression rectangle' or their vape as an 'anxiety stick'. I drew this following an incident in which I cut too deep. The open wounds were so wide, and I was in such a state of shock, that all I could think of them was that they resembled rhombuses. Stupid, cathartic, magic rhombuses.
The pineapples are a reference to Pork Soda by Glass Animals. In that song, the speaker describes their delirious state as 'having pineapples [in their] head'. And what was that moment if not pure delirium?
Windows, a.k.a. my anatomy kinda sucks - March 2026
Something funny about being 'born from MSPaint' is that it leaves you inextricably tied to Microsoft™ and Windows. This one has a sort of voyeuristic element, where the artist (as Togore) is being seen through a window. Literally, if that's what your machine is running.
Untitled (19th Birthday) - February 2026
Today is my 19th birthday, which is terrible, so I made a hopeful painting.
The little poem here is a reference to 1½ fish. It uses MSPaint's Marker tool and default colour palette.
ScorpionSands2.png - December 2025
This one has a story. It can be considered a 'redraw' of an artwork I created as a child...
This is ScorpionSands.png. Drawn in MSPaint, circa. 2014. The 'scorpions' depicted here are .pngs of Megalograptus alveolatus as depicted in the Walking With Dinosaurs spinoff Sea Monsters. I never actually watched the entire special, just one clip on Youtube obsessively. Goes to show how longstanding my obsessions with prehistory and MSPaint are, hehe.
ScorpionSands2.png functions as a reconstruction of my original vision, which I didn't have the skills to realise as a child, for some reason.
It is drawn entirely using MSPaint's Marker tool, and uses the original palette of ScorpionSands.png with additions from the default MSPaint palette.
Icthyophoros - December 2025
In classical Greek religion, the kriophoros (ram-bearer) was Hermes, who was credited with saving a city from plague by sacrificing a ram. Icthyophoros (literally meaning 'fish-bearer'), depicts the artist as Togore (in the position of the kriophoros) bearing Anemone (the half-fish-half-ram) upon his shoulders. Throughout my work (yet especially so here), Anemone is the symbol of my own broken femininity — that which I was never meant to have, yet was thrust upon me anyway. Togore is an inversion of her, yet, in being opposites, they end up having quite a bit in common. Hehe.
Nema the Night Prince - September 2025
Content warning: substance abuse
Nema the Night Prince is a reflection of myself at time of creation. He is inspired by pelagic sea slugs, notably the sea angel, which drifts endlessly in black abyss waiting for prey to come its way. It sounds bleak, but he wears this glowing, almost comical anime-style grin despite it all.
It may be worth noting this time was the deepest, darkest pit of my addiction. I was not sober while drawing this.
